Corrections Policy

Getting the facts right matters. So does correcting them when we get something wrong.

At Today Nigeria, we are committed to producing accurate, fair, and reliable journalism. We take reasonable steps to verify information before publication, but we recognise that errors can occur.

When mistakes are identified, we aim to address them promptly, clearly, and transparently.

Reporting an Error

If you believe an article published by Today Nigeria contains an error, we encourage you to let us know.

Please use our Contact Us page, select Corrections & Feedback, and provide the article link, the information you believe is incorrect, and any supporting evidence.

We welcome corrections from readers, organisations, public institutions, and anyone with relevant information.

How We Handle Corrections

When we receive a correction request, we review the concern and assess the available evidence.

Where necessary, we consult the original sources, relevant documents, or people involved in the reporting.

If a material factual error is confirmed, we update the affected content as promptly as practicable.

Corrections, Clarifications, and Updates

We distinguish between three types of changes.

Corrections: Changes made to fix factual inaccuracies, such as incorrect figures, names, dates, statements, or descriptions. Material corrections are accompanied by a note explaining what changed.

Clarifications: Additional information that makes an article clearer or addresses wording that could reasonably create a misleading impression, without necessarily changing the underlying facts.

Updates: New information added to an article as a story develops. Substantial updates may be identified with an update note or timestamp.

Minor spelling, grammar, or formatting changes that do not alter an article's meaning may be made without a separate notice.

Transparency About Changes

When we make a material correction, we aim to include a dated note in the affected article.

For example:

Correction — 21 October 2026: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated [original claim]. The article has been updated to reflect [correct information].

Where an article contains a fundamental error that cannot be adequately corrected, we may publish an editorial explanation, retraction, or other appropriate notice.

We generally seek to preserve a transparent public record rather than silently remove material reporting.

Your Feedback Matters

We take accuracy concerns seriously, regardless of whether they come from readers, sources, or subjects of our reporting.

Not every disagreement or difference of opinion requires a correction. However, factual errors should be examined on their merits.
